danksfavorites I was in high school & moved to a new state: a bassist in a local punk band gave me a mixtape with Crass on it: I didn't make it through the first side without needing to keep "The've Got a Bomb" & "Banned From the Roxy" as replay favorites for the next month. I fell in love with this album after purchase, & found Christ the Album shortly after. I think I made it to side B of the mixtape maybe 2 months afterward. The selection was all prime cuts, but nothing hit me like Crass did. Favorite track: They've Got A Bomb.

Craig White short sharp direct - is it an album? is it a 12" e.p.? is it 'pay no more than Β£2.00' (no)? does it boot you in the nadgers? yes! Favorite track: Do They Owe Us A Living?.

πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Mikey T. Chas The Dog And Momo The Cat πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ I bought Feeding in 1979 on the Small Wonder label. I still have the copy. Its been played in my bedroom as a kid, at mates gatherings and in a couple of squats. It's battered to shit and quite rightly so. It's been read, listened to and the art perused. Twas never made to be collected and sold at ridiculous prices years later but that's the planet we unfortunately still live on. So much crap happening and yet I'm still optimistic for the future, and loving and living in the present - Mikey T.

about

Feeding Of The 5000 is the debut album by Crass, recorded 29th October 1978, and released later that year.
At the time, it was seen as utterly revolutionary due to its extreme sound, consistent profanities, and anarchist ideology.

The album helped to re-initiate the Campaign For Nuclear Disarmament, and this anti-war motive can be especially noticed in the track "They've Got A Bomb" which features a period of silence midway through. Crass said this was to stop all of the dancing and energy when they performed live, and would allow the audience to reflect upon the potential of Nuclear War.

The album was named Feeding Of The 5000 due to it being the minimum number of vinyl the band could get pressed, and, in drummer Penny Rimbaud's words "4900 more than we thought we'd sell".

about

Crass Epping, UK

Crass were an Anarcho-punk band formed in 1977. They popularised the anarcho-punk movement, and were advocates for such matters as direct action, animal rights, anti-facism, feminism, and environmentalism. From the word go, their career's ending was set to be 1984, and they lived up to this intention, splitting up following a miners' benefit gig in Wales in July that year. ... more
